Farm to School Conference
The Farm to School Conference was held on April 18, 2013 at the McMahon hall in Canfield, OH. There were 31 in attendance. Schools represented were Campbell, Beaver Local, Austintown Local, Western Reserve, CCESC,East Palestine, South Range, Lisbon Exempted, Leetonia, Columbiana, Crestview, and Boardman.The Mahoning Career and Technical School adult chef program catered the conference.
Four local farmers gave their perspective on partnering with school. There was a lot of between schools that were already partnering with local growers and those who wanted to partner.
Lake County Runs
Over 800 children K-12 are signed up for this great intervention. Students train for 6-8 weeks to prepare themselves for a 5K race.
Children and adults all receive a red Lake County Runs T-shirt to wear at the selected race. This year the race is a Fairport Harbor.
