Rutherford B. Hayes High School: Healthy Nutrition Campaign

Delaware County's Hayes High School developed a school nutrition campaign to increase the choice and awareness of healthy foods to the student body. The changes included a cafeteria make-over and marketing materials, developed by a computer graphics class using popular figures to promote fruits and vegetables. They called the program The Power of Healthy Choice, based off of the University of Minnesota's TACOS study.  Click here to view The Power of Healthy Choice.

There are four components to The Power of Healthy Choice project:
  • Cafeteria Makeover
  • Classroom Education
  • Student Peer to Peer Marketing Campaigns
  • Project Evaluations
The project was funded by the 2005-2006 United Way Obesity Prevention Impact Grant.
